The Cheatah Homepage

Cheatah is a cross-platform application that works in conjunction with The Sword Project  interface, and uses Sword bible modules.  It is the simplest program for displaying Sword bibles, and is intended as a stepping stone for programmers who would like to be involved with the project.  Cheatah is also the basis on which the GnomeSword application for Linux was originally based, so it would make a good starting point for any developer who wishes to produce a Sword application to a different specification.

XSword is the name for a future cross-platform Sword application based on Cheatah and GTK+.  Help is welcomed and needed on this brand new exciting venture.  If you fancy dipping a toe in, you could be right at the start of something amazing, God willing.  I ask you to pray about what you see.  If you feel that The Lord wants to move this new application forward, then come and join me!  Download the source code from: http://sourceforge.net/projects/xsword/   Place a message for me at: barrydrake at users.sourceforge.net which is linked from the XSword Sourceforge page.

If you'd like to read more, go to the starter page which explains step by step how to get Cheatah up and running on a Windows computer.  If you are a Linux user there should be no need for help as all Linux users are competent programmers ......  but I'll be happy to try and support where I can.

If you want to know more about how Sword finds and reads modules, you might care to look at the simple console application page.

God bless you, and thank you for reading this.              Barry Drake.
